Ochakai Seminar with Associate Professor Theodora Nah from City University of Hong Kong

On July 30, 2026, the PHIS Center hosted a highly successful Ochakai Seminar featuring Dr. Theodora Nah, Associate Professor from the City University of Hong Kong (hosted by Prof. Maruyama). Delivering an insightful presentation on the crucial roles of atmospheric bacteria in cloud chemistry and planetary health, Dr. Nah captivated a diverse audience attending both on-site at the IDEC Building and online. The session sparked an exceptionally engaging discussion, with attending faculty members and students asking numerous insightful questions regarding airborne microbial dynamics and atmospheric reactions. Following the interactive talk, Dr. Nah toured the research facilities housed within the IDEC Building. The itinerary included detailed visits to both the Microbial Genomics and Ecology (MGE) Laboratory and the Environmental Biogeochemistry (EBG) Laboratory. During these walkthroughs, Dr. Nah exchanged ideas with laboratory members, observed ongoing experimental setups, and discussed promising avenues for future international research collaboration. Overall, the event concluded on a high note, successfully promoting vibrant interdisciplinary dialogue and strengthening academic connections between City University of Hong Kong and Hiroshima University.
